Join the Team!

Our youth mountain bike team welcomes riders in grades 5–12 of all experience levels, from first-time trail riders to seasoned racers. Our mission is simple: have fun, build confidence, develop skills, and inspire a lifelong love of cycling. Through supportive coaching, teamwork, and plenty of trail adventures, athletes learn more than just how to ride—they build friendships, resilience, and a passion for the outdoors. Whether your goal is to race, explore new trails, or simply enjoy riding with friends, there's a place for you on our team.

Our Mountain Biking Journey

The Sauk Valley Mountain Bike Team is a cross-country mountain bike team. Cross-country is a specific form of cycling different from road riding, downhill racing, BMX, cyclo-cross, or track racing. Cross-country requires a broad range of skills to ride up and down mountain bike trails. Team members will develop both technical skills and improve their fitness through cross-country riding. We participate in the Illinois league which is a part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), a nationwide non-profit that has leagues all across the country. The mission of NICA is to build strong minds, bodies, character, and community through cycling. In short, we use the mountain bike to help kids develop into great humans.
